Why Handmade Soap? Because Your Skin Deserves Better Than Boring.

Walk down the soap aisle at any big-box store and you'll see plenty of options. Same shapes. Same packaging. Same boring names.

We decided to do things a little differently.

At Wayward Soap Co., we make our soaps in small batches using thoughtfully chosen oils, butters, clays, goat milk, essential oils, fragrances, and other ingredients depending on the bar.

And then, because apparently we can't behave ourselves, we give them names like Blue Waffle, Snail Trail, Shark Week, Scissor Sisters, Golden Showers, and whatever other inappropriate nonsense comes out of our mouths.

But underneath the dirty jokes is some seriously good soap.

What Makes Handmade Soap Different?

Our cold-process soaps are made from scratch by combining oils and fats with sodium hydroxide. During a process called saponification, those ingredients react and become soap.

One of the beautiful things about traditional cold-process soap is that it naturally contains glycerin, a humectant that attracts water. We also formulate our recipes with carefully selected oils and butters to create the hardness, cleansing ability, conditioning feel, and lather we want from the finished bar.

Then we let the bars take their sweet-ass time.

Our cold-process soaps cure for several weeks before they're ready for your shower. During that time, excess water evaporates and the bars become harder, milder-feeling, and longer-lasting.

Good soap can't be rushed.

Why Goat Milk?

You'll find goat milk in many of our bars because we love the creamy feel it gives our soap and the gorgeous lather it helps create.

We pair it with ingredients such as olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and castor oil in our recipes. Different Wayward bars may also contain clays, colloidal oatmeal, honey, coffee, charcoal, or other ingredients chosen specifically for that soap.

Basically, there's a lot more happening inside these bars than the filthy name printed on the outside.

And Then There's Naked & Wayward

For anyone who wants things a little more... naked, we created our Naked & Wayward collection.

These soaps skip synthetic fragrance oils and get their scent from essential oils, with clays and other thoughtfully selected ingredients giving the bars their natural character.

They're still Wayward, though.

We said naked. We never said well-behaved.

Handmade Means Every Bar Is a Little Different

This might be our favorite part.

Our soaps are poured, swirled, cut, trimmed, and handled in small batches. Colors move. Swirls change. Embeds land a little differently.

That means the bar you receive may not look exactly like the one next to it—and that's the point.

You're getting a handmade bar, not something stamped out by the thousands in a factory.

We think those little differences make them better.

Wayward Soap Co. started with a pretty simple idea: make damn good soap and have fun doing it.

We care about what's in our products. We care about how they're made. And we absolutely refuse to believe that buying soap has to be boring.
